          Check-in and bag drop

Advice on check-in and checking in baggage at Venice Marco Polo Airport.

          When to arrive

Arrive at the airport well in advance:

          • 3 hours before departure if your destination requires passport control,
          • 2 hours before departure for all other flights,

or as specified by the airline operating your flight.

Arriving early at the airport will give you time to check in, pass through security and any border controls, and board your flight smoothly, even during peak traffic periods when security lines may be longer.

          Where to go

Access to security screening at Venice Marco Polo Airport is located on the first floor. The departure check-ins are located on the ground floor and first floor.
You can get there by escalator or lift from the area outside the Terminal.

If you need to pick up a boarding pass or check in baggage, check the check-in desk number, which will be assigned approximately 3 hours before your scheduled departure time for intercontinental flights and at least 2 hours before for all other flights.

You can find the check-in number on:

          • Information screen in car park P1.
          • Information screens at the docks (water bus landing stage).
          • Information screens along the pedestrian walkways on ground level.
          • Central illuminated screen on the first floor.
          • Information screens inside the terminal building.

          What to bring

Make sure you bring your identity document valid for international travel. Check before your flight that it meets the requirements of the country you are travelling to and find out whether you need a visa.

If you have any airline cards (loyalty, frequent flyers, priority), bring them with you to make use of the available services.

          Check-in online and Self Check-in

After you have booked your flight, you can visit your airline's website to check in online according to the indicated dates and times.
You may need to provide your booking details, identity card or passport details.
To log in to the airline's website, you will need your booking details and your email address.

Alternatively, if you travel with the following airlines you can use the Self Check-in machines inside the Airport (on the ground floor near Easyjet check-in, and on the first floor near the security gates and Emporio del Grano).

List of airlines present in the self check-in machines

Once you have your boarding card (either printed or electronic on your smartphone/tablet), you can:

          • Go to Security if you are travelling with hand luggage
          • Go to your Airline's drop-off baggage counters if you have a hold baggage.
          • Drop off your oversized luggage at the gate on the ground floor close to check-in counters 92-98.
